What Does Lavender Tea Taste Like?

Lavender tea tastes a lot like it smells. Distinctly floral, with a soft, green herby undertones, and faint notes of citrus. It's actually in the mint family and related to other edible herbs such as rosemary, oregano, lemon balm, thyme, basil, sage, and of course peppermint and spearmint.

    How to Drink Lavender Tea

You can drink lavender by either making it yourself or buying it ready-made, either as a loose leaf tea or in tea bags. If you want to make it yourself, you can buy a plant.

    Buying Lavender Tea

We highly recommend buying organic lavender tea, since the edible part of the plant is exposed to pesticide spraying (unlike produce with a rind or peelable skin). We offer a couple caffeine-free blends made with certified organic ingredients:

Farmhouse Lavender Tea - Thistle & Sprig Tea Co.

Farmhouse Lavender herbal tea, a lavender & hibiscus tea blended with lemon balm, and Four Sisters herbal tea, a chamomile-lavender forward tea blended with peppermint and lemongrass.

    Planting Lavender

Even if you already have a lavender tea you love, lavender is a lovely and versatile addition for your garden. You can use it for tea, cake and cookie decorating, fresh flower cuttings, flavoring simple syrup, and more.

If you end up buying a lavender plant, we recommend sticking it in the ground rather than keeping it in the kitchen if you want to make regular use of it. Lavender will grow well in poor soil, it just really does not like wet feet. That being said, if you manage to get lavender to take off in your garden, it can become quite large and then you will be able to harvest the buds during its bloom season.
