STEEPING DIRECTIONS Steep 1 tablespoon in 1 cup boiling water at (212°F) for 5 minutes.

ARE YOUR TEAS ORGANIC? We strive to source the highest quality, ethical ingredients possible. We work with many farms directly and choose our producers based on both their environmental and their social welfare impacts. Several of the farms we work with are certified organic, others are organic in practice but have not invested in certification. In short, some of our teas would qualify for organic certification but not all; nearly all the ingredients are sustainably grown but do not have the certification further down the supply chain. We have intentionally chosen creating a more direct line from garden to cup over the ability to qualify for certifications.

ARE YOUR TEAS GLUTEN FREE? Yes! They are uncertified butnaturally gluten free.
I FINISHED MY TEA! WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THE TIN? We encourage you to reuse the tin as it is the best storage method for protecting teas from air, light and moisture. However our tins are also fully recyclable through any curbside recycling program. You do not need to peel off the label first, just toss it straight in. If you feel guilty about getting rid of it, know that it is one of the most easily and infinitely recyclable materials.
YOUR TIN LINERS LOOK LIKE PLASTIC. ARE THEY REALLY COMPOSTABLE? Yes! They are in fact cellulose, not plastic, and are made of renewable wood pulp harvested from sustainable managed forests. The liners are completely biodegradable and home compostable (i.e. they break down naturally, you don't need a commercial composting service). We compost them ourselves so we know for sure that they break down quickly. And the little sticker sealing the tin liner is compostable too!
ARE ALL YOUR MATERIALS ECO-FRIENDLY?
We do our best to avoid plastic and any landfill-destination materials-- things that can't be recycled. Plastic usually can be recycled, but is a more environmentally costly material to produce and recycle. In addition to our product packaging itself, we ship in cardboard box and primarily use paper filler both of which can go into your recycle bin, but you may find from time to time other materials from our vendors being reused by us for shipping.
Caffeinated teas come from a single tea plant, camellia sinensis, processed in different ways to yield different teas, such as green, oolong and black teas.
Green Tea - leaves immediately dried after picking and rolling, which retains most of the bright color of fresh leaves. Methods of drying include steaming, roasting, and baking. Common green tea flavor profiles are a fresh vegetal green, and can be sweet, bright, savory, grassy, and smoky.
Oolong Tea - processing method in between green tea and black tea. Leaves are partially oxidized, allowing for changes in flavor and leaf color. Flavor profiles vary widely because of this oxidation process, from complex floral, sweet, or fruity notes to deeper flavors- smoky, nutty, earthy, caramel, toast.
Black Tea - fully oxidized, allowing flavors to change and deepen. Black teas have a rich flavor range similar to more highly oxidized oolong teas: earthy, nutty, malty, musky, caramel, leather, and can have lighter undertones as well that are fruity or sweet. Black tea also has the highest concentration of tannins, which gives it a brisk, astringent texture.
Herbal Tea - naturally caffeine-free, made from any range of plants outside of camellia sinensis. Some of the more popular herbal teas are made from common herbs and spices, such as mint, chamomile, ginger, lemon balm, and lemongrass.
Rooibos is a popular herbal tea. Red rooibos is made from oxidizing the leaves of this South African red bush plant. It's a great caffeine-free alternative to black tea, often consumed with milk or lemon and honey.
